The ultimate in vaccine administration

The IDAL® (IntraDermal Application of Liquids) System is the swine industry’s most advanced method for vaccinating pigs. This unique, needle-free and intradermal system includes two injectors:

  • IDAL®
  • IDAL 2G – second generation of the device with many new features
    • Bluetooth-enabled, allowing vaccine and vaccination data to be sent directly to the IDAL App on an Apple® or Android™ mobile device
    • Through the app, manage:
      • Doses per bottle
      • Total doses remaining
      • Doses to next service
      • When maintenance is needed

Fast, safe and effective

The IDAL System is an easy, efficient, low-stress delivery system for pigs and the people who vaccinate them. This needle-free device administers a low-volume 0.2 mL vaccine dose into the dermis of any size pig, including sows. This device is particularly useful in operations where large numbers of pigs need to be vaccinated.

How it works

Because it is less invasive than needle injection, intradermal vaccination produces fewer adverse systemic effects within the pigs and elicits an excellent immune response.1 It also reduces the risk of needles transmitting disease between pigs during the vaccination process. Intradermal vaccination allows for a wider range of administration sites in the animal, providing increased flexibility for the user. This is particularly useful when vaccinating large groups of pigs as it allows quick and non-invasive application, creating less stress for both pigs and the administrator.

Studies show that intradermal vaccine administration can stimulate an immune response as efficiently as or better than intramuscular (IM) administration.1

Intradermal administration

  • Elicits an immune response
  • Low, fixed-injection volume (0.2 mL)
  • Far less chance of damage to valuable muscle tissues
  • Increased flexibility in the selection of the vaccination area
  • Ease of vaccination increases animal welfare, decreases stress
